Vadodara, also known as Baroda, is a major city in the Indian state of Gujarat. It serves as the administrative headquarters of the Vadodara district and is situated on the banks of the Vishwamitri River, 141 km from the state capital of Gandhinagar.
The city is famous for Lakshmi Vilas Palace, an excellent architectural palace. It is also the place for the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (Vadodara), the largest university in the state. The city is an important place of industrial, educational and cultural centre in India. Vadodara has its own airport.
It was constructed in 1890 by the Gaekwad family, a prominent Maratha family, who ruled the Baroda State. Major Charles Mant was credited to be the main architect of the palace.
It is also known as "Kamati Baug", it was built by Maharaja Sayaji Rao Gaekwad - a great visionary ruler of Baroda. It is the biggest garden in Western India.
It is an archeological and natural history museum in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. It was built in 1894 on the lines of the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Science Museum of London.
